The ADAP Advocacy Association (aaa+) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in the District of Columbia to promote and enhance the AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAPs) and improve access to care for persons living with HIV/AIDS. aaa+ works with advocates, community, health care, government, patients, pharmaceutical companies and other stakeholders to assure that access to services recognize and afford persons living with HIV/AIDS to enjoy a healthy life. aaa+ is the only national grassroots organization focused exclusively on ADAPs and ensuring that there are adequate resources nationwide to eliminate or prevent waiting lists for services. Our purpose is to better engage people living with HIV/AIDS by providing a platform whereby they can offer their personal experiences, challenges, knowledge, insight and solutions to solving this perpetual problem. Known as a prescription assistance program or patient assistance program, these are offered by pharmaceutical companies to provide free medications for indigent and uninsured patients. With nearly ALL major pharmaceutical drugs available, health care facilities – including outpatient clinics, county hospitals and for-profit hospitals – can receive or be reimbursed for prescription medications dispensed to qualified patients who could not otherwise purchase them.
The challenge is understanding the process and managing the program. Because there is no standard procedure amongst the prescription drug manufacturers, administering the program and obtaining the most up-to-date information can be costly and time-consuming. Our Internet-based software program provides the most current, comprehensive database of drugs available and maintains required forms and information for each major pharmaceutical company.
